Plein Air Painting Workshop
Workshops are held from late May through August
Enjoy a few days in beautiful Leelanau County, discovering your artistic talents, swimming in Lake Michigan, hiking the dunes, drinking local wine and painting outdoors, or as the French say, “en plein air.”
On the northern shores of Michigan's
Leelanau Peninsula, with Lake Michigan as your vista,
is a stone cottage named East Napa, home to
Northport Artist Residency.

Your Workshop
Memories of your getaway will be preserved in your artwork.
The Northport Artist Residency Plein Air Workshop provides small group instruction that affords the flexibility to customize workshops for all levels of instruction within your group.
True of guests with no experience to those who are more accomplished, the small workshop dynamic produces a creative synergy needed for all levels of instruction.
Workshop art supplies allow each guest the opportunity to paint as a seasoned artist.
The painting medium is Acrylic.
Practical—Acrylic dries quickly and can be transported safely. Guests paint using French plein air easels, small leather tripod stools for seating; and umbrellas that prevent glare on the canvas.
Instructor Mary Lynn Rouleau offers her seasoned guidance to enable guests to enjoy and produce artwork that will surprise and delight.
